The Brief

Pine Group supplied and installed a HiDEW RER100 whole-home climate control system for this high-end residential project in Beecroft, built by Alpha Build.

The HiDEW RER100 is an all-in-one solution that combines heat recovery ventilation (HRV), active dehumidification, heating and cooling into a single compact unit — giving the home continuous fresh air, controlled humidity and year-round indoor comfort while maintaining excellent energy efficiency.

The Challenge

Delivering whole-home climate control from a single integrated unit, across three levels, while keeping every trace of ductwork out of sight, required careful coordination with the build program from an early stage.

Our Approach & Solution

The HiDEW RER100 combines several technologies within a single unit — heat recovery ventilation for continuous fresh air, active compressor-based dehumidification, a hydronic cooling coil connected to the home’s chilled water system, and a hydronic heating coil connected to its warm water system, with intelligent control of indoor air quality, temperature and humidity throughout.

The unit was installed within the home’s dedicated plant room, suspended from the ceiling to maximise available floor space while providing easy access for future servicing. Insulated EPP ductwork was used for the fresh air intake and exhaust connections to maximise thermal efficiency, with insulated EPP main ductwork rising through the home to serve all three levels — each fitted with dedicated supply and extract distribution boxes for balanced airflow.

Semi-rigid ductwork was routed within the concrete floor slabs, allowing the ventilation system to be completely concealed. Supply and extract air valves were installed directly into the off-form concrete ceilings, delivering a clean, minimalist architectural finish while maintaining balanced airflow throughout the home. The installation was completed with full balancing and commissioning of the system.

This installation provides the homeowners with complete year-round environmental control from a single integrated system. The client now benefits from:

The Brief

Pine Group was engaged by a regional NSW council to install a reliable Air Handling Unit (AHU) for the spa room within a council-operated aquatic centre. To meet the specific environmental requirements of the space, the Dantherm DanX 1HP system was selected and installed.

Spa rooms present unique challenges when it comes to humidity and temperature control. Pine Group installed the Dantherm DanX 1HP — a high-performance air handling unit combining heat pump technology with an advanced double crossflow heat exchanger — chosen for its high efficiency, precision control and energy recovery capabilities in pool and spa environments.

A ducted air distribution system ensured even airflow throughout the spa room, with electrical supply and control wiring seamlessly integrating the unit into the existing infrastructure. Hydraulic connections linked the heat pump system to optimise dehumidification and heat recovery, with a water-cooled condenser option available to redirect excess heat to the pool or hot water supply, maximising overall efficiency.

The Brief

Pine Group was engaged to install a dehumidification system in a newly built residential home in Robertson, NSW, featuring an indoor pool. While the property was modern and beautifully finished, it presented one key challenge — there had been no allowance for concealed ductwork or mechanical ventilation in the original design.

With moisture control critical in any indoor pool setting, the homeowners needed a reliable solution that could manage humidity, prevent condensation, and protect the building’s integrity — delivered through a clean, precise installation within the constraints of the existing structure.

Pine Group installed a Dantherm DanX2HP Indoor Pool Climate Control System — a highly efficient unit combining a double crossflow heat exchanger with an integrated heat pump, delivering heat recovery of over 100% while keeping outdoor air intake to the minimum needed to maintain air quality.

With limited space to work with, the team installed exposed steel ductwork mounted directly to the ceiling — a practical choice that also delivered a modern, industrial look in keeping with the home’s architectural style. Eyeball-style vents were positioned along the ductwork, directing targeted airflow specifically toward windows and glazed doors to control condensation exactly where it was most likely to occur.

Every aspect of the installation required careful planning — from the alignment of duct sections to the placement of vents and the securing of support brackets — all while respecting the design of the finished space.

Outcomes

The Brief

Pine Group was engaged to install a DANTHERM XKS 12/24 Indoor Climate Control System for an indoor swimming pool in Penrith. Given the region’s extreme summer temperatures and cooler winters, the goal was to ensure consistent humidity and temperature regulation for year-round comfort.

A heat pump chiller providing both heating and cooling was implemented so the system could adapt to seasonal variations, maintaining a stable, comfortable indoor environment while optimising energy use and preserving indoor air quality.

Penrith’s climate swings between intense summer heat and cool winters, placing conflicting demands on a single system. Every project of this kind also has to balance fresh air supply against energy efficiency without compromising comfort.

Our Approach & Solution

The installation centred on the DANTHERM XKS 12/24 — a highly efficient outdoor air dehumidification system with integrated climate control, paired with a heat pump chiller providing both hot and cold water depending on seasonal demand.

Air distribution used a custom ducting design: galvanised steel ductwork externally for durability, and fabric duct internally to promote even airflow across the pool area. Electrical supply and control wiring enabled precise automation, while hydraulic connections — including solenoid valves and actuators — linked the chiller to the air coils for enhanced efficiency.

The DanX XKS system’s advanced crossflow heat exchanger captures and recycles energy, its integrated outdoor air mixing function supplies only the fresh air required, and a free-cooling bypass introduces 100% outdoor air in summer. An additional cooling coil further enhances dehumidification and cooling during hot periods.

The Brief

Pine Group was engaged to design and install a high-performance ventilation solution for the science laboratories at Maronite College of the Holy Family, replacing an outdated extraction-only system with a modern, energy-efficient heat recovery ventilation (HRV) system.

The project involved the supply and installation of three VEHUM ComX EC Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) systems, providing balanced mechanical ventilation to improve indoor air quality while significantly reducing the energy required to condition incoming fresh air.

The Challenge

Science laboratories present a distinct ventilation challenge: fresh air must be delivered reliably to classrooms while contaminants generated in adjacent chemical preparation areas are contained and extracted, all without the energy penalty of continuously conditioning outdoor air from scratch.

Our Approach & Solution

Pine Group designed a fully integrated heat recovery ventilation system built around three VEHUM ComX EC Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) units — engineered specifically for the science block’s classroom layout, adjacent chemical preparation rooms, and existing structural constraints.

The systems were suspended from the existing concrete ceilings and connected via custom-fabricated galvanised steel ductwork. Fresh, filtered outdoor air is tempered through the high-efficiency heat recovery cores before being supplied to the classrooms, while stale air is extracted from the adjacent chemical preparation rooms and storerooms — maintaining excellent indoor air quality for students and teaching staff while containing airborne contaminants within the preparation areas.

From concept through to commissioning, Pine Group delivered the complete mechanical ventilation package, including system design, equipment selection, ductwork design, installation, balancing and commissioning.
